7 Signs of Personal Growth

Introduction: Growth is not linear. Generally, one thinks of it in a fast mode. At times, it is indeed boring. However, it happens in a boring manner. For example if we plant the seed of bamboo, it takes at least 5 years to grow to its full height provided it is properly taken care of. Likewise, as a human being one’s grows in similar manner. We need to take small steps on the daily and consistent basis before we get to see the big results. As we move ahead in our journey, when we don’t see the results coming or become impatient, then mostly we lose track and close the effort. One needs to understand it takes time and patience before we start seeing the results of our efforts.

Here are few steps to uncover the signs in your own personal growth story:

1) Your life perspective changes: It might sound complicated, however one must understand that it takes time and effort during the transformation. It may take less or more time, than one can realise. In order to grow and reach a certain stage and phase, we are constantly evolving on daily basis. Once we reach that stage, one’s thinking has changed for the better. Ultimately, once you arrive at the stage where you wanted to be, you realise your perspective is different now, than when you started. You need to celebrate this uniqueness.

2) You no longer hang around your friends circle: When this realisation hits you , you no longer want to be part of the surrounding which does not inspire or motivate you. Now, this is the most difficult aspect of life- to let go of things or people or group of people who do not serve you in your mission. It important for you to understand that it’s ok to feel this way. It’s not that you don’t like them but a self-realisation that you have outgrown this relationship. It important that you should not cling to old relationship for the fear of no letting it go. You have to be kind and honest with yourself regarding this. Ultimately, it’s about your energy which is different kind, and if one isn’t committed to their own growth, the relationship will not work.

3) People find it hard to comprehend you: It’s natural that we evolve in life, there will be some people who will either leave you or you will leave them as they will now find it difficult to comprehend you. Some of the people who claim to know you quite well, now will have hard time in understanding how much you’ve transformed. People who still want to be with you and be part of your life, will try and adapt to this new situation. Unfortunately, with some people, this may not be the case. They may become insecure, angry or even jealous with your new identity. You only have to understand and be courageous and take the best step forward.

4) You discuss Ideas, and not people: One of the most uncultured human tendency is to talk the negative in our conversations with regards to certain people, especially when they are not present. It not a great idea to gossip about people and distorting their image and having no idea how much it may impact them. It’s fine if when we are complementing or appreciating them with regards to their efforts and results. Rather being distracted by the noise of what other’s gossip, it’s important to either excuse yourself from such conversations. However, when the conversation shifts to idea level then shift happens and the quality of life improves.

5) You value yourself: You start to value yourself including your thoughts and feelings when your life perspective changes in a positive way. When you truly accept yourself, then will you blame yourself? It also implies that you walk your talk and speak your truth without any kind of fear. Some of the ways to build on this are to stop comparing yourself with anyone and also stop comparing yourself with the perfect perception you have about yourself.

6) It’s Quality than Quantity which matters: Simply put, it means to value little things in life which provide immense inner satisfaction. It can be related to relationship, experiences and work. It means having fewer of them, but those who truly do matter. What really matter is that by choosing fewer of them, you really are invested in them and when you introspect maybe end of the day or week or even month, you feel that it was time well spent. It not about keeping yourself busy for the day but being alive and in the moment to do those things which truly inspire you.

7) Why becomes more important: When you transform into a new being ,you no longer are content with the outside world. You look at things and life from a different perspective, You start to question anything and everything as you truly what to understand, rather than accept the “as is” status.

You deeply want to question your belief and value system to get a perspective on what triggers you. You want to understand, why some people react in a certain way and what are you empowering or disempowering beliefs. You evolve into a self where you no longer would like to react, however would choose to respond. It’s like you want to question everything so that your life view improves. By asking the right questions, you begin to realize just how many people are genuinely living the life that they want to live.
